Yvo Elaine (Connell) Keck the second child, and only daughter of Robert Harrison Connell and Ada Millicent (Winter) Connell, was born at home at Simpson, Nebraska in Keya Paha, County on May 25, 1925.
She attended rural schools in Keya Paha County, and graduated in 1942 from Newport High School. She accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized in the Methodist Church in Newport. Yvo married Merlin "Bud" Keck at Phillipsburg, Kansas on November 15, 1941. To this union, three children were born. Yvonne Kae, Robert Irwin, and Mark Wayne. She worked at the Bassett Hospital, Rock County Hospital, and the Rock County Sheriff's Office, and she retired at the age of 84 after an accident in which she fell.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 67 years, Merlin "Bud"; daughter, Yvonne O'Dea; parents, Harrison and Ada Connell; brother, DeWayne Connell; son-in-law, Loren O'Dea, and aunts and uncles. To mourn her passing are sons, Robert Keck and wife Judy, Mark Keck and wife Mary Kay; Grandchildren, David, Danny and Angela Titus, Con and Todd Keck, Michael and Brian Keck; Numerous Great-Grandchildren, and Great-Great-Grandchildren. Brother, Bob Connell and Delores Connell of Bonesteel, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Kathleen Connell of Hot Springs, South Dakota; Along with cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral services were held June 4, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Bassett, Nebraska with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating over the service. Music was provided by Evelyn Armstrong, Janet and Levi Landrigan providing music selections of "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were, Todd Keck, Conrad Keck, Brian Keck, Michael Keck, Cody Keck and Don Connell. Honorary bearers were all of Yvo's other family and friends. Burial was held at the Simpson Cemetery near Newport, Nebraska under the direction of Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett. In lieu of flowers, memorials were directed to the Newport Fire Hall Building Fund or to the Rock County Ambulance.
