Mr. William E. "Bill" Lippold

William Edward "Bill" Lippold died on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Brown County Hospital.
Bill was born to Lloyd Charles & Helen Audrey (Stuff) Lippold in Syracuse, NE on July 22, 1933. He graduated from Syracuse High School in 1952, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska in 1958. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On November 25, 1955, Bill married his high school sweetheart, LaVonne Mae Meyer. They lived in Lincoln, NE while he completed his education, moving to Ainsworth in August of 1960 to begin his career at Link Pharmacy. Bill purchased the pharmacy in 1968 and worked there until his retirement in 1997. He was a dedicated pharmacist, and he enjoyed serving the Ainsworth community.
Bill was an avid fisherman, taking every opportunity to go fishing with his friends. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, canoeing, and traveling. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and successful businessman. Bill taught his family to love and serve the Lord, not only by his words, but also through his example.
Bill was an active member of the Ainsworth community. He belonged to the Zion Lutheran Church, Ainsworth Public Library Board, American Legion, Ainsworth Chamber of Commerce, and B.P.O.E. Lodge #1790.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lloyd "Bud" Lippold; and a sister, Shirley VanHousen. He is survived by his wife, LaVonne, and their four children: Camilla (Randy) See, of Grand Island; Lance Lippold, of Orange, CA; Amy (Eric) Rice, of Gothenburg; and Alane (Dan) Lentz, of Ainsworth. Bill is also survived by seven grandchildren: Laura Berlinger, Matthew Lentz, Megan See, Benjamin Lentz, Rachel Rice, EveAnne Lippold, and Caleb Rice; and two great-grandchildren: Graham Duester and Stella Mae Lentz. Others left to cherish his memory include: brothers-in-law, Ron (Mary) Meyer, and Donald VanHousen; dear friends Larry & Linda Rice, and Jerry & Darlene Ehlers; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ainsworth, with Pastor George Williams officiating the service. Music was provided by Georgia Williams and a piano prelude by son Lance Lippold. Congregational hymns of "Be Still, My Soul" and "How Great Thou Art" were sung. Pallbearers were, Dean Jochem, Dan Kozisek, Conrad Budde, Dave Spann, Steve Bartak, Royce Greder, Greg Jochem, and Dena Gilg. Honorary bearers were, Laura Berlinger, Matthew Lentz, Megan See, Ben Lentz, Rachel Rice, EveAnne Lippold, Caleb Rice, Graham Duester, and Stella Mae Lentz. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery. Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth was in charge of the services. Memorials are suggested to the Ainsworth Public Library, to Zion Lutheran Church, or donor's choice.
