Stephen Duane Lentz was born on February 1, 1948 at Ainsworth, Nebraska to Elmer Sr. and Viola (Hakes) Lentz. Steve lived in and graduated from Long Pine High School in 1966 when he then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his county during the Vietnam War. After his service with the Air Force, he and wife, Sandra (Newcomer) Lentz returned to Long Pine. To this union a son, Chad James (CJ) Lentz was born. Steve was a lifelong resident of Long Pine, Nebraska.
Steve passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin brothers, along with brothers, Ralph and Wiley Lentz; brother-in-law, Dwire Goodwin and sister-in-law, Eiko Lentz. Steve leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Sandy of Long Pine; son, CJ Lentz and his wife, Angel of Aurora, Nebraska; two brothers, Fred “Cook” Lentz and wife, Lois of Elkhorn, Nebraska and Elmer Lentz Jr. of Ainsworth; one sister, Nancy Goodwin of Cody, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Shirley Lentz of Ainsworth, Marilyn (Newcomer) Randall and husband, James of Tucson, Arizona; Betty (Newcomer) Gipson and husband, Keith of Bismarck, North Dakota; and brother-in-law, Brent Newcomer of Long Pine; along with nieces, nephews and other family members.
