Shirley Mae (Edwards) Davis of Ainsworth, Nebraska was born on November 3, 1936 in Butte, Nebraska to George and Anna (Scherer) Edwards. She passed away at the Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth, Nebraska on December 29, 2015 at the age of 79.
Shirley grew up in the Ainsworth area. On April 16, 1955, she was united in marriage to Raymond Dale Davis. To this union two daughters were born. In 1984, Ray and Shirley purchased and ran the Davis Cleaners until their retirement. Shirley loved sewing and gardening. Shirley was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Wayne Edward (Margie), Harold Edwards (Daisy), and Norman Edwards (Bobbie). Seven sisters, Verna Edwards, Leila Dillon (Bob), Vesta Serr (Allen), Helen Peterson (Lyle), Edna Amick, Louise DeVitt (Pearl), Leona Givens (Robert), and a brother-in-law, Darrel Pinhero. She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Bill) See of Ainsworth, and Nadine (Rick) Little of Omaha, Nebraska. Grandsons, Bradly and Brent See, Tyler and Troy Little; Great-Granddaughter, Julie; Sister, Ruby Pinhero; Brother-in-law, Harold Amick, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held on January 4, 2016 at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Neva Murphy officiating. Music was provided by Dorie Palmer. Special song selections of "Amazing Grace" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" were provided. Honorary bearers were her grandsons, Bradly See, Brent See, Tyler Little and Troy Little. A private family inurnment for Shirley and Ray were held after the services at the East Park Cemetery near Ainsworth. In lieu of flowers memorials were suggested to the family in her name for a future designation. Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth was in charge of the arrangements.
