Ms Sally A. Stewart

August 24, 1953 — May 14, 2019

Sally Ann Stewart, 65, of Fullerton, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly at Sanford Medical Hospital in Worthington, Minnesota on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. She was being transported from Albion, Nebraska to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Sally was born on August 24, 1953 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia to Duane and Patty (Clow) Swanson. She was the oldest of five children. Sally started her education at the Ewing School, located 25 miles south of Bassett, Nebraska. In 1961, she moved with her family to Bassett. She attended Bassett Grade School and graduated from Rock County High School in 1971. Sally then went on to Patricia Stevens College in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated in 1972 with a Business Secretarial degree, specializing in the medical secretary field.
Sally returned to Bassett and married Bob “Zeke” Stewart on December 10, 1972. She worked for Sandhill Implement until 1975. After the birth of Stephanie in September 1975, Sally went to work for Dr. A. Dean Gilg. Zeke and Sally were divorced in 1977. Then in 1978, she started working at Coash Inc. until 1989.
In December 1978, she married H.P. Arnholt. They later divorced. In 1989, Sally and her sister Debbie (Swanson) Morrison purchased the Ben Franklin Store in Bassett. They ran the store until 1998 when they sold the business.
Sally moved from Bassett in October 1998 to Grand Island, Nebraska where she worked for Credit Management. In February 2001, she moved to Fullerton where she worked at the First National Bank and Trust there until the time of her passing.
Sally faced many health obstacles starting in 1993 when she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. On December 16, 2003, she was given a “second chance” when she had a heart transplant. In the last few years due to the medications she took after her transplant, her kidneys had started to fail. Through it all she never asked “why me.” It was always, what is the next step? I don’t have time to die, I have things I want to do. Sally and Zeke had recently purchased a camper to enjoy during retirement. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids, Kevin and Katie.
Sally is survived by her partner in life Zeke Stewart of Fullerton; her daughter Stephanie and husband Rusty and her two grandkids Kevin and Katie of Hayfield Minnesota; her parents, Duane and Patty Swanson of Bassett; siblings, Dennis (Terri) Swanson of Bassett, Don (Therese) Swanson of York, Nebraska, Cathy (Ron) Ewoldt of Grand Island, and Debbie (Daniel) Morrison of Bassett; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
