Mr. Roger W. "Bubba" Fischer

Roger William Fischer, better known as "Bubba," was born on September 27, 1933, at Mills, Nebraska, to Alfred and Emma (Ludemann) Fischer. He joined older brothers Lyle and Larry and two sisters, Marlene and Carol June, were born later. He went to rural school around Mills and graduated from Rock County High School in 1951. In 1952, he was joined in marriage to Ione Bolich, and to this union, three children were born; David Roger, Karla Anne and Danita Fae.
Roger was a very hard worker. He gave 150% in everything he did from ranching to farming and took great pride in his work. Roger loved life. When he wasn't working, Bubba could be found in his fishing boat, at the local watering hole, on the golf course, or having a beer with his buddies. After retirement, Bubba enjoyed tooling around the countryside, keeping tabs on all the farmers and enjoying the scenery. Whether he was playing or watching, Roger was an avid sports lover, his favorite team being the Huskers. Roger loved his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He also loved spending time with his great-grandkids.
Roger gained his wings on May 20, 2018, after a hard battle with Parkinson's. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Emma Fischer, his brother, Lyle Fischer (Glenna,) and his granddaughter, Shaina Shaw.
Roger is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ione of Bassett, son, David Fischer of Omaha, Nebraska, daughter, Karla Theisen (Tom) of Atkinson, Nebraska, daughter, Danita Shaw (Ben) of Bassett; grandchildren, Leah Hagan (Justin) of Bassett, Ethan Shaw and Ashley Babcock of Bassett, Jade Theisen of Hudson, Wisconsin, Parker Theisen and wife Maddie of Atkinson, and six great-grandsons. He is also survived by brother, Larry Fischer (Ardelle) of Bassett, sisters Marlene Johnson (Ted) of Rapid City, South Dakota, and sister, Carol June Gordon (Lyle) of Holmen, Wisconsin; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Funeral services were held at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bassett, Nebraska, with Nancy Moore PMA officiating the service. Music was provided by Faye Smith. Congregational selections were,"Amazing Grace" and "Borning Cry." Pallbearers were, Ben Shaw, Ethan Shaw, Justin Hagan, Tom Theisen, Parker Theisen, Ben Fischer, Allen Fischer, and Kent Smith. Honorary bearers were, Leah Hagan, Jade Theisen, Mason Hagan, Collin Hagan, Aiden Hagan, Easton Hagan, Liam Theisen and Niko Theisen. Burial followed at the Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for a future designation.
