Roby V. Woods Jr.

Roby V. Woods Jr., age 75 was born on February 9, 1949 at Ainsworth, NE to Roby and Iona (Eddy) Woods. He passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at CHI Health-Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Roby was a lifetime Brown County resident, 1967 AHS graduate, U.S. Army veteran and longtime Rural Mail Carrier.

Roby was preceded in death by parents, Roby and Iona Woods; grandparents, Francis and Charlotte Woods and Lawrence and Myrtle Eddy; and parents-in-law, Homer and Georgia Blank.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen (Blank) Woods of Ainsworth; children, Thane (Michelle) Woods of Gardner, KS, Heather Beatty of Louisburg, KS and Grant Woods of Lincoln, NE; five grandsons, Ethan, Caleb and Brody Woods of Gardner and Austin and Hunter Beatty of Louisburg. Roby is also survived by his brother, Daniel Woods of Ainsworth; and sisters, Norma Grande of Saugus, MA, and Lola (Bob) Mitchell of Bourbonnais, IL; along with two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Mizner of Long Pine, NE and Kristina Stewart of Ainsworth.

Funeral Service was held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 in the Ainsworth Church of the Nazarene. Reverends Russell Thayer and Robert Mitchell (Roby’s brother-in-law) officiated at the service. Interment was in the Ainsworth Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Ainsworth American Legion Post #79. Music was provided by Nancy Campbell with the congregation being led by Danny Bennett singing, “It Is Well With My Soul” and “When We All Get To Heaven.” Special Music was provided by Heather Beatty singing the song, “Untitled Hymn.” A Reading titled “Only A Step” was given by Thane Woods. Pallbearers were: Ethan, Caleb and Brody Woods, Austin and Hunter Beatty and Jon Young. Memorials were suggested to family for a future designation.
