Norman Kurpjuweit was born September 20, 1945 in Long Pine, Nebraska to Fredreich Kurpjuweit and Hazel Freeman Kurpjuweit. He grew up in Ainsworth working on the farm with his father. He later moved to Norfolk, Nebraska where he worked for Clark Brothers Transfer from 1968 to 1971. He later moved to Wahoo, Nebraska where he met his wife Patricia Albertson. They were married in 1985 and then they moved to Fremont, Nebraska. They moved to Ainsworth where he was active in his church and enjoyed his many friends. In 2013, due to health problems, he moved to Arbor Care Center in O’Neill, Nebraska. While there he entertained the residents with records from his collection. He remained there until his death on September 29, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Raymond, and sister-in-law, Jan Kurpjuweit.
Norman is survived by wife, Pat Kurpjuweit of Ainsworth; Brothers-in-law, Vince Albertson of Council Bluffs, IA and Louie Albertson of Council Bluffs, IA; Sisters-in-law, Julie Albertson of Red Oak, IA, Tony Albertson of Omaha, NE; Aunt, Helen Townsend of Hastings, NE; Cousins, Stan Weander Jr. of North Platte, NE and Mary Lou Hughes of Johnstown, NE; along with nieces, nephews and other family members.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the Assembly of God Church in Ainsworth. Pastor Gary Graesser officiated at the service. Music was provided by Myra Williams as pianist playing, “Amazing Grace” and “Mansion Over The Hilltop.” Inurnment followed at the Ainsworth Cemetery. Memorials were suggested to the family in Norman’s name for future designation. Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth assisted with the arrangements.
