Mrs. Mavis Rozella (Patterson) Tuttle

Mavis (Patterson) Tuttle was born December 29, 1935 to Etta (Newland) and Clyde Patterson in Springview, Nebraska. Mavis was united in marriage to Robert D. Tuttle on April 28, 1956 at the Methodist Church in Springview. To this union eight children were born: Robin, Shari, Cindy, Breck, Chris, Kelly, Paige, and Heath.
She attended elementary school at District 17 and graduated from Keya Paha County High School in 1953. Mavis took summer classes at Chadron State College to earn her teaching certificate and then taught two years at rural Keya Paha County schools.
Mavis spent all of her life in Keya Paha County raising her children, gardening, and raising chickens on the family farm. Mavis was active in many community organizations including the Keya Paha County Alumni Association, Keya Paha County Historical Society, the Keya Paha County Senior Center, the Three Pines Extension Club, and she was a member of the United Methodist Church. Mavis was a co-chair of the Keya Paha Centennial Celebration, and she put a lot of time and effort into it being a success. Mavis enjoyed her Sunday evenings when she would call her neighbors and get her news for the Liberty column in the Springview Herald.
Mavis loved to read, crochet, play cards, and do crossword puzzles. Every spring she watched her yard for a pair of cardinals. Mavis loved to host monthly birthday dinners for her family, and she enjoyed Sunday dinners at the Senior Center. Wednesday cards at the Senior Center were a weekly outing until she began dialysis in the fall of 2010. Mavis continued to live at home until she became ill and passed away on March 26, 2013 in North Platte, Nebraska.
Survivors include husband Bob Tuttle of Springview; and her children Robin Tuttle of Bassett, Nebraska, Shari Hickman (Art) of Creighton, Nebraska, Cindy Libolt (Steve) of Springview, Breck Tuttle (Kris) of Ogallala, Nebraska, Chris Tuttle (Linda) of Meadow Grove, Nebraska, Kelly Tuttle of Colome, South Dakota, Paige Havranek (Ritch) of Ravenna, Nebraska, and Heath Tuttle (Beckie) of Lincoln, Nebraska. Grandchildren are Jason Croghan; Terry and Trent Hickman; Amber Harewood and Brenda Konkoleski; Grace McCoy, Kaitlyn Hemberger, and Ian, Preston and Alex Tuttle; Brock and Britney Kaupp; and Rowan Havranek. Mavis is also survived by seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Lenore Shepperd and Doris Eichenberger (Ted); Sister-in-law, GlendaGurney (Lyle) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held on March 30, 2013 at the Keya Paha County High School Gymnasium with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating over the service. Music was provided by Mary Courts. Special music of "Amazing Grace" was provided by AnneMarie Svoboda along with a CD selection of "Snowbird" by Anne Murray. The obituary was read by Brenda Konkoleski and special family remarks was given by Todd Eichenberger. Pallbearers were, Jason Croghan, Terry Hickman, Trent Hickman, Chad Ludemann, Brock Kaupp and Ian Tuttle. Honorary Bearers were all of Mavis' other family and friends.
