Larry Dwaine Goshorn, born April 5, 1955, to Dwaine and Marcene (Morris) Goshorn in Gordon, NE, passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 69. He was one of five boys, and together, they spent their childhood getting into plenty of mischief on the ranch—oh, the stories they have told! Those early years were filled with laughter, adventure, and countless memories that would last a lifetime.
Larry graduated from Cody-Kilgore High School where he excelled in football and track. On April 30, 1988, Larry and Teresa were married. Together, they blended their families, with Larry having two daughters, Kerri and Jodi, and Teresa having two daughters, Amber and Julie. They later welcomed a son, Matthew, who completed their family.
He had several careers in his life, but they all revolved around driving. It started with trucks and tractors on the ranch, his own trucking company, the Department of Roads, driving the ambulance as an EMS driver, and ending with the Cody-Kilgore coach bus. Above all, driving the bus for the kids was his favorite.
For many, Larry will forever be remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to his family. He was a steadfast protector of those who mattered most to him, always ensuring that his loved ones were cared for. His commitment to his family extended beyond just those related by blood—he was the biggest supporter and protector of ‘bus kids’, always looking out for those who needed help or guidance, treating them as his own.
One of Larry’s greatest passions in life was working on the ranch. Whether it was taking care of the darn cows, fixing fences, or spending long days tubing at the ranch, he poured his heart into the land he loved. An avid hunter, Larry had an exceptional eye and was a great shot (Doug would say almost as good as him). The thrill of the hunt was something he truly enjoyed, but it was more about the time spent with friends and family, sharing stories, laughter, and memories that lasted a lifetime. In his younger years, he was an avid trap shooter and won several local, regional, and state trophies as well as reaching nationals a couple of times. He also taught hunter safety courses.
No one could forget his loyalty to his teams, particularly the Detroit Lions and the Nebraska Huskers. He had an undying passion for his teams and was often found cheering them on, win or lose, and always sharing his enthusiasm and frustration with those around him. He could also be found following Nascar and watching rodeos on TV or in-person.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mitchel and Sanford Goshorn; and father-in-law, Larry Sisson.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; daughters, Kerri (John) Dey, Jodi (Dustin) Hitchler; son Matthew (Dena) Goshorn; step-daughters, Amber (Troy) Happold and Julie (Kyle) Mizner; grandchildren, Jaxon Hitchler, Maverick Goshorn, Haley and Ryan Happold, and Kolter Mizner; brothers, Monte (Elizabeth) Goshorn, Doug Goshorn, and Todd (Ellen) Goshorn; sister-in-law, Joyce Goshorn; mother -in-law, Iris Sisson; brothers-in-law, Bryan (Patricia) Sisson, Calvin (Rhonda) Sisson; sister-in-law, Kendra (Chris) Osterman; along with many nieces, nephews and other family members.
