Joyce Diane May

Joyce Diane May was born September 30, 1940 to William Henry and Rose Velma (Sandall) May at Bassett, Nebraska. She passed away March 5, 2013 at Rock County Hospital Long Term Care at Bassett at the age of 72 years.
Joyce lived her entire life in Rock County, most of it on the original homestead of her grandfather. Joyce spent her life caring for her parents and being a help mate to them.
Joyce entered the Long Term Care facility in 2009 after a hip fracture. She loved her new home but missed the kittens at home. Joyce was an avid puzzle solver and a salt and pepper shaker collector.
Joyce is survived by brothers, DeLane of Bassett and Larry and wife Linda of Bassett. She is also survived by one nephew, Glen and his wife Charla of Bassett, and one niece, Leann and her husband Justin Burr of Elkhorn, Nebraska. She is also survived by cousins and a true friend, Stacey Strelow of Bassett.
Funeral Services were held on March 8, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Bassett, Nebraska. Pastor Rod Heilbrun and Pastor John Adams officiated over the service. Music was provided by JoAnn Swanson and Stanley Larson with special music selections of "In The Garden" and "Whispering Hope." Pallbearers were Monte Strelow, John Strelow, Steve Larson, Merv Buoy, Todd Stahl and Tony Stahl. Burial was held at the Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery in Bassett, Nebraska under the direction of Hoch Funeral Home. Memorials were suggested to the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care.
