Joan B. (Koch) Fredericksen was born March 28, 1930 in Ainsworth, Nebraska and passed away August 10, 2020 at her home in Long Pine, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, four months and 13 days. She was raised in Johnstown, Nebraska by her grandparents, Iva and Jesse McDaniel. Joan attended Johnstown School. She met and married John Hoffman and they had five children: Sally, Gary, Wilbert, John and Kevin. Years later, she met and married Don Fredericksen. To this union were two daughters, Ida and April. They were married for 56 years. John was a stay-at-home mom. She sold Avon and Sarah Coventry which she enjoyed doing. Joan and Don loved the greater part of their lives in Oregon, where Don worked in logging and heavy machinery work. After retiring, they moved home to the Sandhills of Nebraska. Joan loved her flowers, her kitties and having fun at the casino.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; two daughters, Ida and Sally and a son, Gary. She is survived by three sons, Willy Hoffman of Ainsworth, John Hoffman of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Kevin (Cheryl) Hoffman of Eagle Point, Oregon; one daughter, April (Corvin) Hinrichs of Ainsworth; a stepson, Mike (Laura) Griffith of Helena, Montana; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her brothers, Lyle (Betty) Stewart of Ainsworth and Bob “Zeke” Stewart of Fullerton, Nebraska and a sister, Judy Baxter of Hooker, Oklahoma; along with nieces, nephews and other family members.
Memorials may be made to the family for a future designation.
