Mr. Jim C. Adkisson

December 12, 1936 — September 24, 2019

Jimmy “Jim” Cameron Adkisson was born on December 12, 1936 at Teague, Texas to Nora Pauline (Cameron) Adkisson and James W. Adkisson. He entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth, Nebraska.
Jim grew up in Dallas, Texas, attending Spence Junior High and Crozier Tech High School, graduating in 1955. He earned his BS in Education in 1961 from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, and his Masters of Science in Educational Administration in 1966 from North Texas State University. In 1975, he received his Specialist in Education and Supervision from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Jim taught high school English in Cleburne and Denton, Texas and was Superintendent of Schools in Hyannis, Spencer, and Hartington, Nebraska before becoming the Administrator of Educational Service Unit #17 in Ainsworth, from 1975 through 2000.
Jim married Judy Mohr in April 1969. Two children, John and Jason, were born of this union. Jim and his family moved to Ainsworth in 1975. In November 1983, Jim married Renee Burger and in 1984 the family welcomed a daughter, Debrenee. Jim lived with his family in Ainsworth the remainder of his life and he and Renee were married for over 35 years.
Jim was a true sports enthusiast. He loved (most of the time) his Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ainsworth Bulldogs, and West Holt Huskies. His favorite sports were football, baseball, volleyball, golf, tennis, and summer and winter Olympics. He participated in several sports in high school and was known to travel to Dallas/Fort Worth golf courses with his golf bag on the metro bus lines. His combined love of sports and the English language secured him a part-time job one fall covering Dallas high school football games for the Dallas Morning News.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandra Jean Adkisson. Survivors include his wife Renee (Burger); sons, John (Meg) Adkisson of Edina, Minnesota; Jason (Tarin) of Amelia, Nebraska; and daughter, Debrenee (Matt) Grajeda of Omaha, Nebraska. Other survivors include grandchildren; Samuel and William Adkisson of Edina, Cameron, Jaksen, Asher, and Allie Adkisson of Amelia, and Emmett and Oliver Grajeda of Omaha; mother-in-law Shirley Burger of Ainsworth; brother-in-law Monte (Cindy) Burger of Aurora, Nebraska; sisters-in-law; Jan (Keith) Rodehorst, Kearney, Nebraska, Lori (Jim) Baker, Ainsworth, and Kim (Gary) Trobee, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews.
