Irma Caroline (Vose) Hickman was born December 1, 1927 to Quintin and Orva (McQueen) Vose at Sargent, Nebraska, and died June 6, 2015 at the Rock County Long Term Care at Bassett, Nebraska at the age of 87 years and 187 days.
Irma married Eugene L. Hickman at the Methodist Parsonage, in Broken Bow, Nebraska on November 9, 1948. They moved to the Clesson Keller Ranch south of Newport, Nebraska, where Kathie was born in 1949. In 1952, they relocated to the North Gill ranch south of Long Pine, Nebraska, and Lynn was born, joined in 1953 by Paul.
In 1955, Bob was born at the south Gill ranch, with Art in 1957, and Norma in 1961, to complete their household. They made the move to Long Pine in 1964 and lived in this area through the summer of 1970. From the fall of 1970 to the present, home was Bassett, Nebraska.
Irma was preceded in death by husband Eugene L. Hickman, parents Quintin and Orva Vose; siblings Eilleen (Leonard) Christen, Glen (Owen) Vose, and Jean (Robert )Wolf; nieces Virginia Ann Vose and Pamela Elaine (Wolf) Lake-Lensman, and nephew Stanley Wayne Vose.
Irma is survived by her children Kathie (Doyle) White of McLain, Oklahoma; Lynn (Shirley) Hickman of Bassett; Paul (Rhonda) Hickman of Colton, South Dakota; Bob Hickman of Gillette, Wyoming; Art (Shari) Hickman of Creighton, Nebraska; and Norma Dannatt of Imperial, Nebraska; along with 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Lucille (Owen) Vose of Glasgow, Missouri; Doris (John) Gill of Sargent, Nebraska; Glenna (Richard)Spanel and (Ernie) Abbott, of Long Pine, Nebraska.
Irma will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and neighbor.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Bassett with Pastor Rod Heilbrun and Dan Woods officiating. Music was provided by Sara Gurnsey with Stanley Larson singing "Hymn of Promise" and the congregation singing "In The Garden." The CD Selection of "Remember When" by Alan Jackson was also played. Casketbearers were: Charlie Hickman, Richard Hickman, Gregary Dannatt, Terry Hickman, Trent Hickman and Riley Kaup. Honorary Casketbearers were: All of Irma's Other Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Burial was held at the Grandview Cemetery at Long Pine under the direction of Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett. In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to the Rock County Long Term Care or to the Aseracare Hospice.
