Evelyn Louise (Irwin) Allen was born on September 9, 1932 at Ainsworth, Nebraska to Mark and Rachel (Wigent) Irwin. She graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1950 and went on to teach one year at a rural school. Evelyn worked as a waitress for a short time. While roller skating in Long Pine, Nebraska she met Wayne Allen and were united in marriage on December 28, 1954. To this union five children were born, Connie, Vicki, Lori, and twin sons, Terry and Tony.
Evelyn spent her last years at the Rock County Long Term Care where she earned the nickname "Evie". She would smile every time someone would mention her nickname. She spent time reading her favorite books "Little House on the Prairie" and the "National Enquirer," and enjoyed reading the Ainsworth Star Journal which we brought to her every week.
Heaven became a little sweeter on April 29, 2017 when she went to join her husband Wayne.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Connie (Walter) Mauch, Vicki (Lance) Schipporeit , Lori (Rob) Strand, Terry (Erin) Allen and Tony (Wendy) Allen all of Ainsworth, Nebraska; sisters, Bonnie Osborne and friend Ed of Larned, Kansas, Mary Bidner of Prince George British Columbia, Canada; sisters-in-law, Donna Irwin and Jo Irwin of Ainsworth, and Wauneta Keller of North Platte, Nebraska; brothers-in-law, Gene Allen of Ainsworth and Jack Jones of Norfolk, Nebraska; thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
