Elton Kem Painter, 77 years of age, was born December 29, 1935 to Earl and Alta (Horton) Painter at Springview, Nebraska and died at the Ainsworth Care Center on June 15, 2013 at Ainsworth, Nebraska where he had resided for several years. Elton was the seventh of eight children.
Elton grew up surrounded by family on the Painter ranch southwest of Springview. Besides working on the ranch, he also was employed by several road construction companies in his early years.
Elton's lifetime enjoyment was fishing, and would spend many an afternoon fishing with nephews any where you could get some good bites, he also spent time roping. He was a member of the Meadville Roping Club, bringing home many of their prizes each year. When attending the county fair or the Springview Barbecue, he was always ready for the fast foot races, especially the three-legged race.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Sterling, Gerald, Wendel and an infant brother. Survivors include, brother, Oliver and wife Shirley Painter of Rapid City, South Dakota; sisters, Shirley and husband Forrest Swan of Springview, and Velma and husband Vernon Oatman of Broken Bow, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Mildred Painter of Stuart, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with interment following were held at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Springview, Nebraska on June 18, 2013. Donnie Painter officiated over the service. Honorary bearers were all of Elton's nephews. Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth was in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to the family in his name.
