Edwin R. Brown Sr.

November 5, 1932 — February 20, 2022

Edwin R Brown Sr. was born November 5, 1932 to Earl E. and Alice E. (Miller) Brown. He passed away on February 20, 2022 at the age of 89 at the Rock County Hospital in Bassett, Nebraska.

Ed was united in marriage to Tillie Lowe. To this union a daughter, Vonnie was born. He then married Betty Haight on November 22, 1959 and to this union a son, Edwin R. “Chip” Brown Jr. was born. Ed later married Bertha (Boleschka) Minnig on June 17, 2000.

Ed served in the U.S. Navy from December of 1952 until September of 1955. Ed loved fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed going on jaunts where you would need an over-night bag. He always loved hearing about is grandkids and great-grand kids; it always put a smile on his face. He was a member of the Emmanuel Community Church in Bassett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; fathers and mothers-in-law; first wife, Tillie Lowe; second wife, Betty Brown; third wife, Bertha Brown; stepdaughter, Sandy Zenter; sons-in-law, Al Zenter and Sidney Humerson; and grandson, Rich Zenter.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Vonnie (Robert) Seidel of Ainsworth, Nebraska; son, Ed "Chip" (Amanda) Brown Jr. of Bassett; stepdaughter, Sharon Humberson of Lingle, Wyoming; brother, Bill (Lorena) Brown of Carson City, Nevada; sisters, Ethel Crandy and Bertha Pickenpaugh both of Casper, Wyoming, Flo Clark of Glennville, Georgia and Joyce Weber of Rapid City, South Dakota; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a special cousin, Chuck and Ann Shaw of Cassville, Missouri.

Per Ed’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorials were suggested to the Rock County Hospital, the Rock County Senior Center, and the Emmanuel Community Church in Ed’s name or to the family for a future destination.
