Duane Emerson was born on August 17, 1941 in Burwell, Nebraska to John and Agnes (Anderson) Emerson and died on May 23, 2013 at his home in Bassett, Nebraska, at the age of 71.
He was united in marriage to Connie K. Stahl on July 8, 1961 at Bassett. To this union four children were born, Bradley Duane, Sonya Kay, Jennifer Jo, and Melissa Ann. Duane loved to spend time with his family and friends. He loved to give the grandkids and great-grandkids rides on his four- wheeler.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes Emerson; his mother and father-in-law, John and Gladys Stahl; brother-in-law, Larry Stahl; son-in-law, Scott Robbie and great-grandson, Aden Ammon. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Connie Emerson of Bassett; children, Bradley and Bonnie (Buoy) Emerson of Bassett, Sonya Emerson-Robbie, Fort Collins, Colorado, Jennifer (Emerson) Schroeder and Greg Schroeder of Lincoln, Nebraska, Melissa (Emerson) Crooker and Jerred Crooker of Kearney, Nebraska. Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren include, Dustina &Travis Ammon, Tyler Buoy, Ashley and Logan Leonard, Shaun & Kayla Emerson, Taylor Robbie & (fiance) Miranda Kabel, Karly, Abigail, Mackinzie, Kip, Emma, Lynley, Landen, and Brantley. Sister, Merry and Warren Snodgrass of Royal, Nebraska; brother, Art and Chris Emerson of Fairplay, Colorado; brother-in-law, John and Bev Stahl of Ainsworth, Nebraska and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Bassett, on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Pastor Eldon Davis officiated at the service. Music was provided by Faye Smith. Stanley Larson sang "The Old Rugged Cross." The CD Selection "Go Rest High on That Mountain" by Vince Gill was played. Ashley Leonard read the Eulogy. Casketbearers were: Jim Stout, Mike Turpin, John Morton, Reno Gordon, Dale Sybrant and Matt Erickson. Honorary Bearers were: All of Duane's Other Family & Friends. Memorials were suggested to the family in his name for future designation. Burial was in the Willowdale Cemetery near Newport, Nebraska under the direction of the Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett.
