Daniel “Danny” Robert Stevens was born to Harold and Rachel A. (Hart) Stevens on July 15, 1951. He began his education at Lila McAndrew Elementary School in Ainsworth, Nebraska in 1956. Several years later, his family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska for a time. Danny took part in the Job Corp in Chadron, Nebraska, where he trained in auto body repair. A few years later, Danny moved to California and began working as a truck driver.
In March of 1972, Danny enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served until his honorable discharge in February of 1976. Danny met and married Linda Blum. Unfortunately, the union did not last and they were later divorced.
Danny moved back to Nebraska and began working in O’Neill the recycling company. However, when the building that housed the business caught fire and burned, Danny went back to truck driving.
Danny was a fan of auto racing and spent countless hours watching the stock car races at the Stuart Raceway in Stuart, Nebraska. However, his Sunday mornings were spent in Ainsworth where he attended the Assembly of God Church.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Susan Stevens; and a brother, Donald Stevens. He is survived by his brother, Gage Stevens of Franklin, Nebraska and friend/caregiver, Dan Woods of Ainsworth; along with other extended family members.
A Graveside Services was held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 in the Ainsworth Cemetery with Pastor Gary Graesser officiating. The obituary was read by Dan Woods. The Cemetery Song was “Amazing Grace.” Memorials have been suggested to the family in Danny’s name for future designation.
