Carl "Scott" Starkey (72), of Ainsworth, NE hauled his last load on July 23, 2020 in Ainsworth, Nebraska.
Scott was dispatched August 6th, 1947 in Spalding, NE to his parents Carl and Gwen (Peterson) Starkey. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High in Tacoma, Washington in 1966, where he was a member of the rifle club throughout his high school years.
Upon moving back to Nebraska, Scott married Glenda King on March 18, 1967. They were married for 15 years and had four sons, Kurt, Randy, Allan, and Loren. On April 7th, 1990 he married Tammy Thomas and helped raise her son Tanner. Scott worked on various ranches in central Nebraska for many years before he began his trucking career which spanned for over 40 years. Throughout his trucking career he logged over two million miles, a million miles were accident free.
He is survived by his sons whom he shared with former spouse Glenda King of Genoa, NE, Kurt (Nadine) Starkey of Ainsworth, NE, Randy (Cindy) Starkey of Lusk, WY, Allan (Roxy) Starkey of Omaha, NE, Loren Starkey of Genoa, NE, his second wife Tammy Thomas of Omaha, and Stepson Tanner (Tina) Thomas of Springfield, NE; 17 grandchildren, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Brianna, Shaley, Zach, Sami, Alex, Cameron, Lexi, Cassandra, River, Brooke, Chrissy, Olivia, Grant, Nathan, Dylan and great grandchild, Karmen. Siblings, Gale Starkey of Madison, NE, Mary (Tim) Margrtiz of Clermont, FL, Regina (Don) Seamann of Norfolk, NE, Ben (Linda) Starkey of Waverly, NE and Jim (Marllys) Starkey of Beatrice, NE. Scott will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends
Scott is preceded in death by his driving companion “Tuffy”; parents, Carl and Gwen Starkey; brother, John Glenn, and grandson Christopher Rubin Starkey. Scott Starkey passed away Thursday (July 23, 2020) at the Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth.
A Celebration of Life Event will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the City Park in Spalding, Nebraska. Inurnment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery in Spalding.
