Robert “Bob” D. Tuttle was born on February 19, 1938, to Emily V. (Vaughn) and Robert C. Tuttle in Valentine, NE. Bob was united in marriage to Mavis R. Patterson on April 28, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Springview, NE. To this union eight children were born: Robin, Shari, Cindy, Breck, Chris, Kelly, Paige, and Heath.
He attended elementary school at Keya Paha County District 49 and graduated from Keya Paha County High School in 1956. Bob spent all of his life in Keya Paha County raising his family, ranching, milking cows (teaching his kids and grandkids “cow words” in the milk barn), and being a good neighbor and friend to many. Bob was active in many community organizations including the Keya Paha County Historical Society, the Keya Paha County Senior Center, the District 17 School Board, the Three River Communications Board, the Keya Paha Farm Bureau, and he was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Bob loved to read (especially the local newspapers), watch old westerns, and play cards. Bob enjoyed Sunday family dinners, monthly birthday dinners with his family, and Sunday dinners at the Activity Center. Wednesday cards at the Activity Center were a weekly outing until he moved to the Long Term Care in Bassett, NE in December of 2022. He became ill and passed away there on May 26, 2023 at the age of 85 years, three months and seven days.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Mavis Tuttle, his parents Robert C. Tuttle and Emily Herring, a grandson-in-law, two great-grandchildren, and many family and friends. Survivors include his children Robin Tuttle of Bassett, Shari Hickman (Art) of Howells, Cindy Libolt (Steve) of Springview, Breck Tuttle (Kris) of Ogallala, Chris Tuttle (Linda) of Meadow Grove, Kelly Tuttle (Duane Schrader) of Jamison, Paige Havranek (Ritch) of Ravenna, and Heath Tuttle (Beckie) of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren are Jason Croghan; Terry and Trent Hickman; Amber Harewood and Brenda Konkoleski; Grace Tuttle, Kaitlyn Hemberger, and Ian, Preston and Alex Tuttle; Brock and Britney Kaupp; and Rowan Havranek. Bob is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lenore Shepperd, Doris Eichenberger (Ted) all of Springview, and Glenda Gurney (Lyle) of Salt Lake City, UT; and long-time friends and neighbors Kevin and Maxine Schoettger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Keya Paha County High School in Springview. Pastor Jenice Epp officiated at the service. Music was provided by Rick Nelson with AnneMarie Svoboda singing “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and the CD Selection of “Go Rest High On That Mountain” by Vince Gill was played. The Obituary was read by Jason Croghan. Casketbearers were: Jason Croghan, Terry Hickman, Trent Hickman, Brock Kaupp, Ian Tuttle and Chad Ludemann. Honorary Casketbearers were: All of Bob’s Other Family & Friends. Memorials were suggested to the Springview Activity Center or to the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care in Bob’s name. Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Springview under the direction of the Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth. Online condolences may be left for the family at
